8. Consider what you plan on planting with your roses. Will those plants and flowers work well with your roses? Many other types of flowers and plants can cause damage to your roses. Roses are very needy plants and may not work well with other plants.

For the beginning gardener, Landscape roses are great. They are resistant to rose disease and are low maintenance. They tend to grow up and many people use them on trellises or the sides of their homes. Remember Hybrid teas are not the rose to start off with if you are a beginner.

Shrub roses are long bloomers and disease resistant. This is a great rose for the beginning gardener. They are beautiful even when not in bloom, because it's leaves are so nice. Although they are not the ideal rose for those who have allergies to scents. They do have a very fragrant odor. Also these roses are disease resistant and good for cut flower arrangements.

Miniature roses are just what they sound like. They have smaller rose blooms with the same scent and beauty as roses with a larger flower. Miniature roses are wonderful in pots for indoor planting.
